90s indie legends to headline final day of Mouth of the Tyne 2026 after packed arena gig
About
When it comes to the final day of a major festival you always need an act with a few anthems in their locker to ensure things go out with a bang. And the organisers of Mouth of the Tyne have definitely fulfilled that brief for 2026, with the reveal that 90s indie legends James will bring the curtain down on this year's event, days after they entertained a packed crowd at the Utilita Arena in newcastle. An event many people look forward to year after year, Mouth of the Tyne, taking place in the stunning surroundings of Tynemouth Priory, has had some great acts at the top of its bill over the years, including The Proclaimers, Rick Astley, Elbow, Jack Savoretti, Heather Small and Sam Fender, who famously headlined in 2019, months before he landed his first number 1 album with Hypersonic Missiles. This year's Mouth of the Tyne gigs will kick off with modern indie icons The Ks on Thursday, July 9, before Ministry of Sound Classical, who went down a storm at last year's festival, graces the stage on the Friday. All tickets for that are sold out but there are still some available for Self Esteem on July 11, with tickets for James going on sale from Ticketmaster this Friday, April 17. Loads of people are excited about the fact that James are the final day headliner for Mouth of the Tyne 2026 and rightly so, as they are a band that need little introduction, thanks to having a number of classics in their arsenal, including Laid, She's A Star and, of course, the absolutely anthemic, Sit Down - which still gets a rousing reaction whenever you hear it on a night out all these years later. James are set to be joined at the Priory by a number of special guests, set to be announced in due course. Guest acts already confirmed include Heidi Curtis for Self Esteem and Ellie Sax and Utah Saints for Ministry of Sound Classical.
